For the second consecutive year, Missouri S&T has had a player selected to the Beyond College Sports All-America football team as senior linebacker Chris Emesih, from Houston, Texas, was selected to its 2013 squad.
Emesih, who was named last month as the Great Lakes Valley Conference's "Defensive Player of the Year" for the 2013 season, finished the year ranked among the GLVC leaders in tackles with 100 and added two quarterback sacks and an interception.
This came in a season where the Miners finished second to conference champion Indianapolis in total defense, allowing just 304.9 yards per game. S&T ended the regular season ranked 14th in total defense in NCAA Division II.
A year ago, defensive tackle Eddie Rascon was selected to the squad and this year's selection of Emesih now gives the Miners a total of 11 players who have earned All-America honors in the history of the football program.
Missouri S&T finished its first season under head coach Tyler Fenwick with a record of 6-5 and tied for second in the GLVC with a 5-2 mark.
