  • DOOLITTLE - Monday's monthly board of aldermen meeting was a short one.
Only three of the city's six aldermen showed up. The board needs at least four aldermen to conduct official business.
Present were Billy Martin, Brad Hilton and Ron Bramlett. Sherry Pierce, Roy Stevenson and Zelma Smith were absent.
While the board waited for a fourth member to show, Mayor Paul Smith updated all those in attendance on some city-wide issues. Among the things he shared:
n A payment to Rolla Municipal Utilities in the amount of $3,200 was missed in July. It is still not clear why this occurred.
n FEMA (Federal Emergency Management Agency) has come through with the city's money budgeted for the radios related to the town's siren system. According to the board's July 8 meeting, FEMA agreed to pay 75 percent of the $33,500 cost and the city and fire department covered the rest.
n The city's warehouse roof is in need of much repair.
Finally, the mayor noted that in the next meeting, the board needs to approve an ordinance on the new sewer rate.
