Robert D. Cruse, of Rolla, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Thursday, December 5, 2013 at the age of 78.
He was born on March 24, 1935 in Champaign, IL to the late Riley Cruse and Catherine (McConnville) Cruse.  On July 11, 1953, he married Carolyn A. (Richards) Cruse in Urbana, Il.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by three brothers, Riley Cruse, Thomas Cruse and Bob Buffmire; and three sisters, Pat Parr, Geneva Siddens and Kay Weeks.
Bob was the owner and operator of the Hillcrest Big Star/Piggly Wiggly for 22 years.  He was then the manager of the CORE License Office for 15 years.  He was a third and fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus, a third degree past Grand Knight and a fourth degree past Faithful Navigator.   Bob was a charter member and past president of the Rolla Rotary Breakfast Club.
He served and enjoyed leading and helping on several mission trips with the Newman Center and the Hand in Hand Ministry.
Bob will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes:  his wife, Carolyn A. Cruse of Rolla; one son, Paul Vincent Cruse of Owensville, MO; four daughters, Cynthia Staggs of Owensville, MO, Mary Beth Light and husband Brad, Diane Curtis and husband Dennis, and Collette Walker and husband Doug, all of Rolla; eleven grandchildren, Cheryl Sybert, Paul Cruse, Keith Light, Amanda Staggs, Kyle Light, Katie Curtis, Kristi Curtis, Dylan Cruse, Luke Walker, Dustin Cruse and Ethan Walker; ten great grandchildren, Whitney, Molly and Deacon Sybert; Madelyn Cruse; Faith, A.J. and Noble Light; Zoe Humphrey; and Dante and Mason Light; many brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; nieces; nephews and extended family.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2013 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rolla.  A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-8 p.m. on Monday, December 9 at the Null and Son Funeral Home.  A rosary will be held at 4:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Patrick Catholic Church, St. Patrick Catholic School or the Catholic Newman Center.
