Seventh-seeded Lady Wolves to meet Stoutland in consolation finals Saturday.

The seventh-seeded Newburg High School girls' basketball team advanced in the consolation bracket of the Frisco League Tournament by drubbing ninth-seeded Richland 55-25 Wednesday.

Newburg, 2-1, will meet Stoutland in the consolation finals on Saturday. Due to other weather-related postponements, the time for the Lady Wolves' game Saturday is yet to be determined.

Top-seeded Licking will meet second-seeded Plato in the girls' championship game by posting semifinal wins on Wednesday. Licking topped fifth-seeded Laquey 57-49 while Plato got past third-seeded Dixon 45-33.

Newburg 55, Richland 25: Newburg took a 9-8 lead after the first period and went into halftime up 20-11.

The Lady Wolves outscored Richland 22-3 in the third period to take a commanding 42-14 edge into the fourth period.

Allyssa Dondlinger, a 5-11 freshman post, led Newburg with 13 points while 5-4 freshman guard Mychaela VanPelt added 11.

Sophomore guard Eleashea Sagre had nine points to pace the Richland Lady Bears.

Licking 57, Laquey 49: The Licking Lady Wildcats bolted to a 23-8 lead after the first period and never trailed. The Laquey Lady Hornets trimmed their deficit to 31-23 by halftime and to 38-35 after three periods. However, Licking held on.

Junior post Bailie Osborne netted 21 points to lead Licking while junior guard Megan Smith added 11. Senior guard Maura Skidmore and senior post Danielle Graves combined for 48 of Laquey's 49 points, with Skidmore firing in a game-high 34 points and Graves adding 14.

Plato 45, Dixon 33: The Plato Lady Eagles held a slim lead most of game. Plato led 9-8 after one period and went into halftime up 22-18. Dixon trailed 32-24 heading into the fourth quarter.

Junior forward Kaylea Kimrey led the Lady Eagles with 15 points. Senior guard Mattie Whitaker paced the Dixon Lady Bulldogs with 15.
