  • 2 female artists in exhibit at The Centre this December

  • Arts Rolla will present the work of two award-winning Missouri artists, Lorraine McFarland and Carol Broyles, during the month of December at an exhibit at the Centre in December.

  • Arts Rolla will present the work of two award-winning Missouri artists, Lorraine McFarland and Carol Broyles, during the month of December at an exhibit at the Centre in December.
    An opening reception for the exhibit will take place Friday, Dec. 6, from 5-7 p.m. The event is open to the public. Attendees can meet the two artists.
    Original work and giclee prints will be featured at The Centre, located at 1200 N. Holloway, St. in Rolla.
    McFarland will have signed giclee prints, note cards and gift certificates for sale the night of the reception. Gift certificates in any denomination can be used toward the purchase of her original art, prints, note cards or commission of a work of art, including portraits.
    In addition to the visual art, Kathryn Garner and friends will provide music at the opening reception.
    The artwork at this exhibit is available for purchase. Special arrangements can be made if the purchased art is needed for a holiday gift by contacting Arts Rolla at 573-364-5539.  
    Financial support for this event has been partially provided by the Missouri Arts Council, a state agency, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
    Additional support was provided by the members of Arts Rolla. McFarland and Broyles have generously agreed to donate an additional 5 percent of their sales to Arts Rolla.
    About the artists
    McFarland, a Rolla artist, is known for her bold use of color and for her ability to bring the personality of her subjects to life in her work. Her work includes exotic landscapes, still life and portraits of pets. She was awarded with the “Best of Show” at the 25th annual Arts Rolla Juried Art Exhibit and also received an Award of Excellence at the 26th annual Arts Rolla Juried Art Exhibit.
    Her work has been shown in galleries throughout Missouri and New Mexico.
    Broyles, a local artist, covers a broad range of subjects in her work and is well known for the high level of detail found in her paintings. Many of her works showcase scenes found in rural America and provide an accurate glimpse of history.
    She was recently awarded with the “Best of Show” at the 26th annual Arts Rolla Juried Art Exhibit.   Broyles is an active artist that has shown her work in various exhibits throughout the state of Missouri.
    Work by both McFarland and Broyles has been purchased for both private and corporate collections.
