  • The American Cancer Society recently recognized Phelps County Regional Medical Center (PCRMC) for its dedication to the fight against cancer by reaching the Relay For Life team fundraising Ruby Level of $50,000.
The PCRMC Relay team has received top fundraising awards several times during its years of participation in the Relay For Life of Phelps County.
This year the hospital raised $13,390 for the year, making their total contributions to date more than $50,000.
Money raised by Relay For Life events helps the American Cancer Society fund research, advocacy, education, programs and services.
Relay For Life is an event that brings together teams from local businesses, schools, churches, families and cancer survivors for fun, food, music, entertainment and a night under the stars, while team members take turns walking or running on a track.
Relay For Life events begin with a cancer survivors lap and a reception to celebrate life.
The next Relay For Life of Phelps County is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at Lions Club Park in Rolla.
