Miner senior on Capital One Third Team.
Missouri S&T senior Timmy Kenny was named Monday to the Capital One Academic All-America men's soccer team for NCAA Division II as a third-team selection at the defender position.
Kenny, a biological sciences major at Missouri S&T, started all 17 games for the Miners as a defender this season and finished the 2012 campaign tied for the team lead with four goals. He took 10 shots that were on goal this season and also played a key role on a defensive unit that has allowed just over one goal per game this year.
The Miners finished the 2013 season with a record of 8-8-2 and made the Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament after finishing 7-6-2 in the league.
Kenny is the 73rd selection to the Academic All-America team for a Missouri S&T student-athlete and 47th since 2000, the fifth-most of any school in NCAA Division II. It also marks the third consecutive year that a member of the S&T men's soccer team has made the Academic All-America team and seventh all-time selection for a player from that program.
