  • Missouri University of Science and Technology’s University and Community Symphony and Chamber orchestras will perform a wide range of pieces in a concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6., in Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, 10th and Main streets in Rolla.
Dr. Robert Cesario, assistant professor of arts, languages and philosophy, will conduct the orchestras.
The Chamber orchestra will perform “Lullaby” by George Gershwin and its standout piece, “Concerto Grosso” by Arcangelo Corelli. The orchestra will also perform “Three Carols” and “A Merry Christmas” arranged by William Ryden.
Following the intermission, the Symphony orchestra will take the stage with “Symphony No. 6 (Pathetique)” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and “Jingle Bells Forever” by Robert W. Smith.
“These pieces represent a collection of traditional holiday tunes, contemplative work for strings in Gershwin’s ‘Lullaby,’ and the monumental sixth symphony by Tchaikovsky, which is at times boisterous, and at others, very poignant,” Cesario said.
Tickets are $5 for the general public and free for S&T students, faculty and staff who present a valid I.D. and youth age 18 or younger.
Tickets can be purchased from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday in the Leach Theatre box office located in the vestibule of the main entrance of Castleman Hall, facing 10th street or by calling 573-341-4219.
