  • S&T choirs to perform fall concert

  • Missouri University of Science and Technology’s Chamber and University choirs will take the stage with traditional and popular pieces at 7:30 p.m. Thursday Nov. 21, in the Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, located at the corner of 10th and Main streets in Rolla.

  • Missouri University of Science and Technology’s Chamber and University choirs will take the stage with traditional and popular pieces at 7:30 p.m. Thursday Nov. 21, in the Leach Theatre of Castleman Hall, located at the corner of 10th and Main streets in Rolla.
    Lorie Francis, a lecturer in the arts, language, and philosophy department at S&T, will conduct the concert. The choirs will be accompanied by Jerrad Kaiser, a sophomore in mechanical engineering from Troy, Mo.
    The Chamber Choir will perform the first portion of the concert. The auditioned group of 28 singers will perform “Yove, Malay Mome,” by Alexander Tanev, their standout piece. The group will also perform “Lux Aurumque” by Eric Whitacre and Edward Esch.
    The second portion of the concert will feature the University Choir performing “Jabberwocky” by Sam Pottle and Lewis Carroll, “If Ye Love Me” by Thomas Tallis and “The Dream Ship” by Susan LaBarr and Eugene Field.
    For the final portion of the concert, the choirs will merge to sing “Chichester Psalms” by Leonard Bernstein. The piece will feature a solo by countertenor Ryan McCoy, a junior in psychology from Ozark.
    Other pieces to be performed by the joint choirs include “Bridge Over Troubled Water” by Paul Simon, “Get on Your Feet” by Kirby Shaw, and “Fly” and “We Will Rock You” by Mark Brymer. Missouri S&T students and youth age 18 and younger can attend the performance free of charge.
    Tickets for the public age 19 and over are $5 and can be purchased Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Leach Theatre box office in the vestibule of the main entrance of Castleman Hall, facing 10th Street, or by calling 573-341-4219.
