A Viburnum man was killed in a collision of the Burlington-Northern Santa Fe railroad maintenance vehicle he was driving and a BNSF train Tuesday afternoon.
Stanley Chandler, 55, Viburnum, was operating the maintenance vehicle on the track near Bourbon when the collision occurred. Dennis Mann, 57, St. Clair, who was also on the vehicle, apparently jumped to safety and was not injured, Sgt. Dan Crain, spokesman for the Missouri State Highway Patrol, told the Rolla Daily News.
The accident did not occur on a highway or at a crossing, so a patrol crash report was not filed, but a separate report was prepared.
