Senior linebacker named GLVC Defensive Player of the Week.

Missouri S&T has garnered its second Great Lakes Valley Conference "Defensive Player of the Week" award in the last three weeks, with senior linebacker Chris Emesih (Houston, Texas/Westfield) earning the honor following the Miners' 24-6 victory Saturday at William Jewell.

Emesih finished the game with a team-high 10 tackles, including five solo stops, leading the Miners to their best defensive performance of the season as they held the host Cardinals to just 202 yards of total offense and 12 first downs. William Jewell had only three of its 15 possessions in the game in which it ran a play in S&T territory and two of those possessions started on the S&T side of the 50-yard line – one after an interception return and the other after a personal foul penalty at the end of a punt.

The Miner defense held Thomas Cook, who entered the contest ranked among the top rushers in the GLVC, to minus two yards on seven carries in the contest.

It the first GLVC weekly award for Emesih, the Miners' tackle leader on the season with 77, and third for a Miner this season. Linebacker Chris Horn was honored after the S&T win over Saint Joseph's on Oct. 19 and running back Zenel Hudson was named after the Sept. 21 victory over Wisconsin-LaCrosse.

Missouri S&T will host McKendree Saturday at 1 p.m. at Allgood-Bailey Stadium.
