  • Three members of the Rolla High School cross country team advanced to the Missouri Class 4 Championships through Saturday's Class 4 Section 3 Meet, held at Ha Ha Tonka State Park.
RHS state qualifiers were freshman Addy Brow of the girls' team and sophomore Dalton Rabenau and junior James Kosbar of the boys' squad.
Brow advanced by finishing eighth overall in the girls' sectional with a time of 19:37.
For the RHS boys Rabenau was 18th overall with a time of 16:21 while Kosbar was 29th at 16:32.
The top four teams and top 30 runners move on from sectional competition to the state meet.
The RHS trio will compete in the Class 4 State Championships this coming Saturday on the Oak Hills race course in Jefferson City. The Class 4 boys' race is to begin at 11:30 a.m. and the Class 4 girls' race at 12:35 p.m.
The previous two years Addy Brow's sister, now-graduated Katie, represented Rolla in the girls' Class 4 State Meet. It's the first time in eight years that RHS has sent two boy runners to the state meet.
The Lady Bulldogs qualified for the sectional meet as a full unit and finished eighth overall with 163 points. Columbia Rock Bridge won the sectional team titles in both the boys' and girls' races.
"Anytime you get kids to the state meet it's a good race," said RHS coach Don Knapp. "They all ran well, had a good race and improved their times from our previous race on this running course. We can't ask for more than that. It was really good competition and fast running. Our runners did well, as good as they could and better than before on this race course.
"Having three runners get to state is a good day, and the fact that all of them are back for more years is a real bonus. They should run well next week at the state meet and get valuable big meet state experience."
There was also a non-qualifying race for other runners and RHS had six boys in that race, led by junior Liam Jennings with a seventh-place finish and sophomore Will Crutcher, who finished 20th.
