  • Dr. Cheryl B. Schrader, chancellor of Missouri University of Science and Technology, will discuss the role of student affairs in strategic planning during a panel discussion at the Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities’ 2013 annual meeting in Washington, D.C.
Schrader will join leaders from two other public universities for the discussion as part of Association of Public and Land-Grant Universities’ Council for Student Affairs session. The panel discussion, titled “Student Affairs and the Institution's Strategic Plan: Presidential Perspectives,” will be held from 3:30-5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 11.
At the conference, Schrader and her fellow panelists will discuss how student affairs organizations on their campuses can become more integral to the strategic planning process.
Missouri S&T recently completed a year-long strategic planning process that involved thousands of students, alumni, faculty, staff and other university constituents.
The new plan demonstrates Missouri S&T’s commitment to providing a strong return on investment to its students and other key stakeholders.
“Student affairs organizations play a crucial role in strategic planning, as student retention and graduation rates, employment opportunities and co-curricular activities become increasingly important aspects of our students’ learning experience,” Schrader said.
Joining Schrader on the panel will be Dr. Dean L. Bresciani, president of North Dakota State University, and Dr. Garrey E. Carruthers, president of New Mexico State University and former governor of New Mexico.
