  • S&T cross country in GLVC Championships

  • Miner men sixth; Lady Miners 10th on Saturday.

  • For the first time in three seasons, Missouri S&T's men's cross country team had an individual earn All-Great Lakes Valley Conference honors as senior Brad Chronister finished in 12th place Saturday at the GLVC Championships.
    Chronister's performance helped pace the Miners to a sixth place finish at the meet, while the Lady Miners finished in 10th place out of the 14 teams in the meet held at Forest Park's Central Fields.
    Chronister finished the eight-kilometer race in a time of 25:09 to earn his 12th place finish and the All-GLVC honor that goes to the top 15 runners in the race. He became the first Miner since 2010 - when David Huskisson did so - to earn all-conference honors.
    Danny Deposki was S&T's second runner across the line in 26th place in 25:57, while Kyle Stocker finished 31st in 26:05.
    S&T's top five were rounded out by Justin Brown, who was 40th in 26:25 and Nathan Boys, who crossed the line immediately behind Brown in a similar time. Garrett Wood finished with a time of 26:37 and Jacob Tayloe had a time of 26:57.
    Southern Indiana, who had the individual winner in Johnnie Guy – his winning time was 23:46 – won the team title for the ninth consecutive year by a wide margin. Lewis came in second overall and Bellarmine finished third.
    The Lady Miners' contingent was led by junior Alyson Smith, who finished 25th overall in the six-kilometer race in a time of 23 minutes. Megan Schulte was 35th overall in 23:17, while Brenda Ellis finished 49th in 23:36 and Crystal Beffa 67th in 24:25.
    Allie Wood rounded out the Lady Miners' top five with a time of 24:41 to finish 74th, while Diane Strong had a time of 25 minutes and Katelyn Fricke finished in 25:06.
    Southern Indiana also captured the women's team title with 56 points to beat out Wisconsin-Parkside and Lewis. The individual champion was Bellarmine's Emily Frith, who completed the course in a time of 21:12.
    Missouri S&T's next competition will take place at the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Nov. 9 in Kenosha, Wis.
