  • Executive officers have been elected for the Phelps County area's Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD).
Area organizers and leaders began meeting in early October to see in if a COAD was needed to assist county residents in the event of a disaster or emergency. The answer was yes.
A week later officers for the new organization were elected and bylaws were passed.
Among those elected were Chairman Larry Stratman, Vice Chairman Sandy North, Secretary Kerry Glensky, Treasurer Maria Bancroft, Long-term Recovery Manager Philip Iman, Donations Manager Dale Holland and Volunteer Manager Andy Conklin.
At the group's most recent meeting held Friday, the group identified several areas where the need for volunteers or donations will be needed. They include:
    • Warehouse or storage space for disaster relief supplies.
    • Case management workers - people who are involved in contacting individuals in need of assistance and making sure those needs are met.
    • Pet shelter to house displaced animals.
    • Contractors or project managers to facilitate repairs or infrastructure needs.
For more information or to volunteer, contact Philip Iman at Phillip.Iman@redcross.org or Larry Stratman at 458-6120.
