  • The Rolla High School girls' cross country team advanced to Missouri Class 4 Sectional competition as a team while the boys had two individual runners move on from Saturday's District 5 Meet.
The Missouri Class 4 Section 3 Meet is to be held this coming Saturday in Camdenton at Ha Ha Tonka State Park, starting at 11 a.m. The top four teams and top 30 individuals from both the boys' and girls races will advance from the sectional meet to the Missouri Class 4 Championships, to be held Nov. 9 in Jefferson City.
The top four teams and 30 individuals moved on from district to sectional competition, and the Lady Bulldogs finished fourth in the district standings. The Rolla boys missed a team sectional placement by one spot, finishing fifth. However two individuals for the RHS boys advance to sectionals in junior James Kosbar and sophomore Dalton Rabenau.
Individually for the RHS girls freshman Addy Brow led the way by placing seventh overall at 19:29.57 followed by sophomore Sophia Holmes 18th at 20:27.51, senior Madison Collier 29th at 20:56.18, sophomore Joanna Callier 31st at 21:07.51 and senior Shannon McCaul 33rd at 21:19.92.
Sectional-qualifiers for the RHS boys were Kosbar 13th at 16:25.87 and Rabenau 18th at 16:31.65.
"It was a good day for our young runners," said RHS coach Don Knapp. "We ran about as well as we possibly could; we got five all-district runners and the girls advanced as a team to sectionals. When you have seven girls and seven boys run a race and 12 of the 14 run their best time of the season or a lifetime fastest race, you have to be pleased with their efforts.
"The girls did everything we hoped for; there were lots of other fast runners in the race. Getting fourth against this quality bunch of teams was about as good as we could do right now. The boys' squad had a good day, too. There were just lots of other fast runners from the other schools. The four teams that beat us are all state-level teams and match up with almost any team of runners around the state. Getting the two boys through was really good."
