No foul play is suspected in the death of a 56-year-old woman found dead late last week in a residence north of St. James.
According to the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department, first responders were dispatched Oct. 18, around 9:51 p.m. to the 14000 block of County Road 2310 for a report of an unresponsive female.
When first responders arrived, they located the woman inside a home who was later identified as Theresa L. Crowley.
An investigation revealed that there were no signs of foul play, and no significant injuries or trauma to her body.
The investigation is continuing, and the sheriff’s department is awaiting the results of an autopsy and toxicology screenings.
Responding to the scene were deputies with the sheriff’s department, Missouri State Highway Patrol troopers and St. James Ambulance District personnel. The Phelps County coroner’s office is assisting with the investigation.
