A Springfield, Mo., man has been charged with involuntary manslaughter after an accident on Interstate 44 Wednesday night ended the life of a Fair Grove man, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP).

According to a MSHP arrest report, Scott Schwegman, 23, was arrested on suspicion of multiple violations, including involuntary manslaughter by driving while intoxicated, possession of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia .
The accident occurred when Schwegman, traveling west on I-44 at the 162 mile marker in the St. Robert area, rear ended a Ford Ranger driven by 33-year-old Steven Raby.
The Ford Ranger traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a culvert, which threw Raby from the vehicle, according to the patrol.
The patrol report stated that neither drivers were wearing seat belts.
Schwegman's vehicle overturned several times before coming to a rest, according to the patrol.
Raby was transported to General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital at Fort Leonard Wood and was pronounced dead at 12:42 a.m. Thursday.
Schwegman was arrested at 12:39 a.m., according to the report and taken to the Pulaski County Jail.
