  • The Missouri S&T women’s soccer team played to a 0-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) draw against ninth ranked Quincy University on Sunday afternoon at the S&T Soccer Field.

  • The Missouri S&T women’s soccer team played to a 0-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) draw against ninth ranked Quincy University on Sunday afternoon at the S&T Soccer Field.
    On Friday S&T fell to No. 22 Truman State 2-0 at home.
    In Sunday’s game, Quincy outshot S&T by an 8-7 margin, but the Lady Miners put five of theirs on goal compared to two for the Hawks.
    There were a total of four shots in the opening 45 minutes two by each side. Quincy (10-0-3, 8-0-2 GLVC) controlled play for most of the half and finished it with five corner kicks. S&T's (3-4-3 overall and GLVC) best chance to score came in the 22nd minute on a blast by Catherine Hawn which was saved by the keeper. Sammy Minea had a chance near the end of the half as well.
    The second half was more of the same with the Hawks controlling play, but the Lady Miner defense stood tall and forced Quincy to shoot from distance. Each side had three shots in the period with two apiece on goal. Anna Fink nearly scored the game winner with 2:06 left in regulation. She hit a shot from 25 yards out that Jodi Chapie stopped but couldn't control and the ball went out of bounds for a corner kick. S&T was unable to capitalize on the set piece.
    The Hawks had three shots in the overtime periods compared to S&T's two. Hawn again had a chance to score blasting a shot from 20 yards out that Chapie saved with just over three minutes left in the second overtime.
    Hawn led the Lady Miners with two shots while Kaitlyn Deister made two saves recording her third shutout of the season.
    S&T returns to action this coming Friday traveling to Indiana to take on the Greyhounds of Indianapolis. The match kicks-off at 4 p.m. (CST).

    Truman 2, S&T 0
    The Bulldogs outshot S&T 18-9 and 8-1 in shots on goal.
    The opening frame was scoreless for a majority of it despite Truman (9-1-2, 8-0-1 GLVC) outshooting S&T by an 11-1 margin. Madison Gibler kept the Lady Miners in the contest by making three saves.
    The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard in the final second of the first half off a corner kick. Megan Frkovic sent the ball into the box and it was banged around going to Stephanie Williams. Williams found Lauren Seawright who headed it in before the horn sounded.
    S&T had four chances to tie the game in the first 16 minutes of the second stanza, but couldn't get anything on goal. Truman got its second goal on a counter in the 63rd minute. Trisha Shoemaker took a shot that hit off the post and Megan Whitehead was there to put the rebound home.
    Page 2 of 2 - The Lady Miners had a few more chances late in the period, but couldn't get one past the Bulldog keeper.
    S&T outshot Truman by an 8-7 margin in the second half, but the 'Dogs put four of their shots on goal compared to one for the Lady Miners. Ekholm led S&T with three shots, one on goal. Gibler finished the match with six saves.
    Shoemaker recorded five shots for Truman while Emily Bozdeck stopped the only shot she faced.
