Host Bulldogs allow just one goal in sweeping three games.

The host Rolla High School boys' soccer team allowed just one goal in sweeping to three victories in the Rolla Invitational, held Friday and Saturday on Kiwanis and Lions Memorial fields.

The tournament was sponsored by Phelps County Bank.

On Friday the Bulldogs shut out district foe Columbia Battle 6-0. And on Saturday Rolla blanked Ozark 5-0 and then clipped Southern Boone, 2-1.

Rolla, now ranked No. 2 in the Missouri Class 2 state poll, improves to 12-1. The final game against Southern Boone was a matchup between the No. 2 Class 2 ranked team vs. the No. 1 Class 1 ranked squad.

Rolla 6, Battle 0: Senior forward Aaron Froehlich scored the hat track, with three goals, while senior forward Hunter Short had two goals and senior midfielder Logan Houf one. Froehlich, Short and senior midfielder Austin Parks each had an assist. Senior Gage Scurlock and sophomore Carter Daniels shared time in goal.

Rolla 5, Ozark 0: Froehlich and Short each netted a pair of goals while Parks had one. Froehlich had three assists and Short two. Scurlock and Daniels again shared the shutout in goal.

Rolla 2, Southern Boone 1: RHS scored 25 minutes into the game on Froehlich's goal, assisted by Houf, and that stood for the halftime score. Southern Boone tied it up nine minutes into the second half, and the Bulldogs got the game-winner with 4:30 remaining on another Froehlich goal, again assisted by Houf.

"Southern Boone is a great team," said RHS head coach Mike Howard. "I'm pleased with the result. We really gutted out a solid win. We played a good first half. The second half we just survived, but I give Southern Boone the credit for that. They came out the second half and pressed us hard and put our backs under same serious pressure.

"We continue to compete and work hard at practice. We can't look at rankings or records and get caught up in that stuff. We just need to keep trying to improve and get better every day."

The Bulldogs are scheduled to play again Tuesday at Lebanon in Ozark Conference action (5 p.m.).

The Bulldogs have moved up a notch in the Missouri State High School Soccer Coaches Association's Class 2 state poll to No. 2.

Unbeaten St. Dominic is the lone team ahead of Rolla in the Class 2 poll.

Carthage, which defeated RHS in the Class 2 Quarterfinals last season, moves up to No. 3. Parkway West, ranked No. 2 before losing to Rolla a week ago, falls to No. 4 in Class 2 while Jefferson City Helias, who the Bulldogs are likely to face in district tournament action, is No. 6.

Columbia Rock Bridge, which Rolla beat in its season-opener, is now the No. 1-ranked team in Class 3 while Jefferson City, which handed the Bulldogs their lone loss, is No. 7 in Class 3.
