  • People entering and leaving Missouri's Fort Leonard Wood might notice something different this week.
Military police assigned to the gates are wearing Cold War-era headgear to observe the 72nd anniversary of the Military Police Corps Regiment. The headgear was worn by military police while performing garrison law enforcement missions from the 1940s through the 1980s.
Lt. Col. Michael Henshaw is the U.S. Army Military Police School chief of staff. He says wearing the headgear is a way to pay tribute to the history of the regiment.
Other events planned for the week included a memorial tribute to fallen military police and an induction ceremony for the Military Police Hall of Fame.
