  • September gas tax receipts highest so far this year

  • Phelps County’s share of gas tax receipts through the County Aid Road Trust (CART) fund distributions in September are the highest they have been so far this year.
    According to a financial report prepared by County Treasurer Carol Green and given to Phelps County Commissioners Sept. 19, the county received a total of $54,069.93 in gas tax funds this month, which is up compared to the amount received in September 2012, which was $52,698.86, a positive difference of 2.6 percent.
    In addition to the gas tax, the county also receives its share of funds from motor vehicle sales tax revenue and revenue received from motor vehicle fees.
    Distributions from all three tax funds are administrated by the state.
    The county’s share of motor vehicle sales tax revenue in September 2013 was $11,885, a 4.77 percent increase from the county’s share received in September 2012, which totaled $11,344.06.
    In September 2013, the county received a total of $6,703.40 in motor vehicle fees revenue, a 9.48 percent decrease from the amount received from these fees in September 2012. Then, the county’s share was $7,405.80.
