A beloved character of American literature will come to life in a musical that Fine Linen Drama is presenting later this month and early next month.
Thirty-five experienced, talented local actors, ages 8-21, will white wash fences, explore caves and portray Mark Twain’s “hymn to boyhood” during seven performances of “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” at the Cedar Street Playhouse.
Performances will take place Friday through Sunday, Sept. 27-2, and Thursday through Saturday, Oct 3-5, each night at 7 p.m. On Oct. 5, there also will be a 2 p.m. matinee performance.

The musical, “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer,” opened on Broadway in 2001. Ken Ludwig, the author of the Tony Award-winning “Crazy For You” and “Lend Me a Tenor,” adapted anecdotes from Mark Twain's book, “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” for the musical, which is set to music by Nashville songwriter Don Schlitz, who composed Kenny Rogers' signature song, "The Gambler."
