  • S&T to host mine rescue competition

  • Two mine rescue teams from Missouri University of Science and Technology will compete against seven professional and three student mine rescue teams during the 31st annual Missouri Mine Rescue Contest Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 24-26, at Missouri S&T’s Experimental Mine off Bridge School Road.

  • Two mine rescue teams from Missouri University of Science and Technology will compete against seven professional and three student mine rescue teams during the 31st annual Missouri Mine Rescue Contest Tuesday through Thursday, Sept. 24-26, at Missouri S&T’s Experimental Mine off Bridge School Road.
    The competition involves a mine disaster simulation that is set up and monitored by the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration.
    In addition to the rescue simulation, other events include first aid, gas testing and maintaining a complex self-contained breathing apparatus.
    Written exams are also administered.   
         
    The following are members of S&T’s gold team:
    • Jenna Freese, a senior in mining engineering from Ozark.
    • Deanna Millard, a senior in mining engineering from Peculiar.
    • Jimmy Nash, a sophomore in mining engineering from Bunker.
    • Ali Rader, a senior in mining engineering from Cheyenne, Wyo.
    • Dana Resmini, a senior in mining engineering from Rochester, Mass.
    • Daykin Schnell, a junior in mining engineering from Lincoln, Neb.
    • Katie Sewester, team captain and a senior in mining engineering from Viola, Kan.
    • Eric Wesel, a senior in mining engineering from Marietta, Ohio.
    The following are members of S&T’s black team:
    • Robert Florich, a senior in economics and mining engineering from St. Louis
    • T. Galbraith, team captain and a junior in mining engineering from Steelville.
    • Andrew Hanneke, a junior in mining engineering from O’Fallon.
    • Holden Henry, a junior in mining engineering from Ellington.
    • Cole Meier, senior in mining engineering from Roach.
    • Jordan Verslues, a senior in mining engineering from Rocheport.
    • Bryce Wiederholt, a sophomore in mining engineering from Maryville.
    • Emma Wilhite, a sophomore in mining engineering from Santa Claus, Ind.
