  • St. James Police Reports: Week of Sept. 18

  • Sept. 1
    2:30 p.m. - Officers were dispatched to the intersection of W. Springfield and S. Carson for the report of a disturbance in progress.  Officers were told the two male suspects were armed, one with a baseball bat and the other with a hammer. Investigation led to the arrest of a 37 year old male, he was released from the St. James Police Department pending warrants.   
    7:22 p.m. - Police responded to a report of a Domestic Disturbance in the 500 block of Walters Street.  Investigation found Brandon Lee Monroe, 22 year old male of Rolla, and Paige S. Weiss, 18 year old female, got into a verbal argument.  No physical contact occurred and Monroe was arrested and booked into the Phelps County Jail under a 12-Hour Protective Hold for intoxication.  No charges filed.
    Sept. 2
    7:35 a.m. - Officers received a report of a male subject passed out in a motor vehicle at the 800 block of North Jefferson Street. The subject, identified as Walter J. Schneider of Kaiser, MO was arrested on 3 active City of St. James Warrants. Schneider was transported to the Phelps County Jail.
    10:18 p.m. - Officers of the St. James Police Department responded to the 200 block of South Charles Street for a report of a domestic disturbance where a male was not allowing a female to take their child.  Upon the arrival of the officers, an investigation was conducted.  It was discovered a male had placed his hand around a females throat and then wielded a weapon while in an intoxicated state.   As a result of the investigation a Joseph E. Saunders a white male of St. James was placed under arrest and transported to the Phelps County Jail on a twenty four hour hold for Domestic Violence in the 2nd Degree.
    Sept. 3
    12:04 a.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop in the 200 block of N. Jefferson Street.  Investigation resulted in the arrest of Timothy Shane Ramsey, 32 year old male of St. James for Driving While Revoked, Driving While Intoxicated and Failing to Signal for Turn
    11:06 a.m. - Officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Parker Lane for a report of a trespassing in progress. Officers conducted a search of the residence and no one was located. Officers located a broken window latch and broken screen door lock. The suspect was arrested on 09/06/13.
    5:51 p.m. - Officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of West Springfield for a disturbance between a male and female subject. No physical violence had occurred. Both parties were separated.
    7:31 p.m. - A set of license plates were reported stolen to the St. James Police Department.  The license plates were entered in computer system as being stolen.  No suspect information.
    Page 2 of 3 - 9:41 p.m. - Police responded to a Leaving the Scene Accident in the 200 block of S. Charles Avenue.  Investigation resulted in the arrest of an adult male, James Tarail Swopes, 24 year old male of St. James, for 1st Degree Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Driving While Intoxicated, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Careless and Imprudent Driving-resulting in an accident.  Swopes was booked into the Phelps County Jail on a 24 hour hold.  Case forwarded to County Prosecutor for charges.  
    Sept. 6
    02:34 a.m. - Police conducted a traffic stop in the area of N. Jefferson Street and I-44.  Investigation resulted in the arrest of Michael Joseph George, 28 year old male of Rolla, for Felony Driving While Revoked, Failing to Maintain Right Half of Roadway and No Proof of Insurance.  George was booked and released pending warrant application.  
    7:27 a.m. - Officer responded to the 300 block of Parker Lane for a burglary in progress.  Suspect, Phillip Sledge, was arrested for burglary, property damage, and stealing.  Sledge was placed on a 24 hour hold at the Phelps County Jail pending warrant application.
    10:45 a.m. - officer was dispatched to the area of North Jefferson Street and Lawrence Street for a report of a motor vehicle crash without injuries.  A St. James Ambulance driven by Joshua Cohen of St. James was stopped in traffic traveling south at the electric signal located on North Jefferson Street when it was struck by a 2008 Honda Civic driven by Sarah Price of St. James.  No injuries were reported and accident investigation was completed.
    5:48 p.m. - Officers were dispatched to the 900 block of North Jefferson Street for a report of a stealing in progress. Officers investigated the situation and found no crime was committed.
    5:50 p.m. - Officer responded to the 200 block of Olga and arrested Jason Hopwood on two active warrants out for his arrest.  Hopwood later posted bond at the St. James Police Department.
    5:50 p.m. - Police located a Michael Scott Worley, 27 year old male of Rolla, in the 300 Block of E. Hardy.  Worley had a Felony Warrant for his arrest for Parole Violation and was booked into the Phelps County Jail.  
    9:58 p.m - Police conducted a Field Interview in the area of Sports Club Dr and W. Springfield Street.  Investigation resulted in the arrest of Anthony Lane Miloro, 18 year old male of St. James, for Minor in Possession of Alcohol.  Miloro was booked into the Phelps County Jail under a 12 Hour Protective Hold for intoxication.
    Sept. 7
    12:25 p.m. - officers received a report of a stealing at the 200 block of Lois Street. An unknown male subject came to the house and negotiated with the home owner to do yard work. The male subject took the home owner's wallet containing $60 in cash, checks and a credit device and left the area.
    Page 3 of 3 - 5:17 p.m. -Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of Grover Street for a report of a male subject not breathing. The male was deceased upon arrival. Next of kin has been notified.
    The St James Police Department had 189 incident reports for the week of September 1, 2013.
