  • EDGAR SPRINGS—Plenty of sunshine and moderate temperatures combined to make a perfect day for a festival.
And the volunteers and sponsors pitched into put together another Edgar Prairie Days that was full of good food, good music and good times.
Nine competitors in the annual barbecue rib contest got the day off very early, firing up their smokers in the wee hours of the morning to start that slow cooking process that ended with the rib entries being turned in at 1 in the afternoon.
While the smoking was going on, there were games for kids, a parade and a dance recital by the students of miss Megan's Dance School.
In the afternoon, Beverly's Hillbillys took the stage to perform bluegrass and country music.
That led into the Championship Youth Bull Riding rodeo in mid afternoon.
The day was capped off by a performance of Alderwood.
Edgar Springs Saddle Club hosted the Edgar Prairie Days events, which had a theme this year of "Home Grown."
That theme was emblazoned on T-shirts available for sale and worn by people proud to be a part of Edgar Springs and Edgar Prairie Days.
Sponsors were R7R Electric, Zane's Rolla Tire and Garage LLC, Eagle Stop, Ransom heating and Air, Kean Brothers Construction, Widener Store and Café, Edgar Springs Feed Store, Post Oak Flats BBQ, JLG Construction, Brynn Benthal, Designing Daisies, Ozarks Coca Cola Bottling and Wal Mart DC 6069.
