  • The Rolla Downtown Business Association (RDBA) will sponsor a two-week scavenger hunt in the downtown Rolla area in conjunction with the fourth annual Celebration of Nations event.
Area residents will have an opportunity to learn about the countries associated with Missouri University of Science and Technology and six chances to win several prizes donated by more than 30 downtown businesses.
Beginning Monday, Sept. 16, area residents may pick up their free treasure map at the Phelps County Bank downtown location at 718 N. Pine St.
Each of the participating businesses will have on display a question concerning the country they represent. The answer can also be found some place within the business.
When the correct answer is given, the business will place a stamp of that country on the treasure map next to the business location. The downtown business district and the arts and entertainment district will be participating.
There will be a question for week 1 (Sept. 16-21) and a question for week 2 (Sept. 23-27).
The winners will be drawn from the players with the most stamps on their treasure map. All entries must be completed and returned to Phelps County Bank on or before noon Friday, Sept. 27.
In case of ties, the RDBA scavenger hunt committee will have drawings. No purchase is necessary to play the game. All ages are encouraged to participate.
The six winners will be presented with the prizes during the Celebration of Nations festivities Saturday, Sept. 28, at the downtown band shell.
There will be three treasure troves filled with prizes for the adult category and three treasure troves filled with prizes for the youth category, ages 2-18 years.
Celebrations of Nations was created on the Missouri S&T campus to promote awareness, understanding and the celebration of the vibrant cultural diversity.
