Froehlich ties Bulldog career goal record.
The Rolla High School boys' soccer team has had some top-flight goal scorers in its 24-year history, including such all-time Bulldog snipers as Tyler Sinnott, Stephen Williams, Mike Kiefer, Judson Ball, Mike Zung and Brandon Moore.
However, current RHS senior forward Aaron Froehlich is on the verge of surpassing all of them.
Froehlich tied the RHS career goal scoring record by netting three on Monday, helping pace the Bulldogs to a 10-0 whitewash of the Sullivan Eagles in the first round of the Pacific Tournament.
Rolla, 2-0, is scheduled to face Hillsboro at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the tournament semifinals. The tournament championship game is set for 8 p.m. Thursday.
The Bulldogs haven't lost a game in the Pacific Tournament in four years.
Froehlich, who set the RHS single-season record with a whopping 66 goals to rank second overall in the state in 2012, has seven goals so far this season.
He now has 121 for his RHS career, tying him for the career lead with Sinnott.
On Monday, backing Froehlich's hat trick was senior midfielder Logan Houf and junior forward Ben Hushaw with two goals each and junior defender Ethan Collins, sophomore forward Thomas MacCash and senior midfielder Austin Parks with one each.
Senior forward Hunter Short recorded four assists while sophomore Logan Short, senior Caleb Homan, senior Aiden Gelles, junior Jordan Kaden, MacCash and Houf all had one.
Senior Gage Scurlock recorded the shutout in goal.
The Bulldogs scored 30 seconds into the game and had a 4-0 lead just six minutes in.
