On Sept. 4, the Rolla Police Department will begin its annual Citizens Police Academy, which has a purpose to bridge the gaps between the police department and the people it serves.
The Citizens Police Academy is intended not only to remedy some of the misunderstandings but also to allow private citizens to experience some of the training and situations normally known to only those individuals of the law enforcement profession.
The academy is an eight-week program, meeting once a week Wednesday nights for three hours.
Applications for this session must be turned in to the Rolla Police Department by Sept. 4.
Interested people may obtain an application at the Rolla Police Department, 1007 N. Elm St., or by contacting a Rolla police officer.
