Forty-two faculty and staff from Missouri University of Science and Technology started their own summer weight loss challenge sponsored by Healthy for Life, the university’s wellness program.
The goal was to lose weight and help others in need. The weight loss challenge ran through June and July. Participants lost a total of 210 pounds as a group, and Healthy for Life donated $1 per pound lost to the Food Bank of Central and Northeast Missouri serving Phelps County for a total of $210.
The first place individual winner lost 8.53 percent of body weight, and two participants tied for second place with 7.48 percent of body weight lost.
The university provides a variety of health and wellness programs to support its employees, retirees and their dependents.
