  • Still, $22,000 raised at 13th annual Missouri Veterans Home-St. James Assistance League Golf Tourney.

  • Well it wasn't necessarily a GREAT day to play golf on Monday, August 12, 2013 at the 13th annual Missouri Veterans Home-St. James Assistance League Golf Tournament.
    After getting four holes of golf in, Mother Nature poured rain on the more than 80 golfers who showed up to support the event.
    With the grounds too wet to finish, the tournament was called off for the first time in the history of the event.
    "So although there are no flight winners to announce from those who played golf, the definite winners of the event were the Veterans who now have over $22,000 to call their own thanks to the supporters who showed up to this annual fundraiser," says Supervisor of Volunteer Services Tara Peters.
    Because of the rain-out the St. James Golf Course offered golfers a certificate for a round of golf with a cart to be used on another date.
    The Missouri Veterans Home-St. James Assistance League is thankful to the following sponsors who have "improved the quality of life," for the 150 veterans who live at the home:
