  • GLVC Volleyball Preseason Poll

  • Lady Miners chosen third in West Division.

  • The Missouri S&T volleyball team was picked to finish third in the Great Lakes Valley Conference's (GLVC) West Division for the upcoming season as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
    The preseason poll was selected by the league's coaches.
    The Miners, winners of the last two GLVC West titles, finished with 94 points and picked up three first place votes. GLVC newcomer Truman State was picked to win the West garnering 114 points and received nine first place votes. Rockhurst, the defending GLVC champion, came in second place with 106 points and gathered four first place votes.
    Missouri-St. Louis was picked to finish fourth in the division with 79 points and was followed by Drury (59 points), Quincy (51 points), William Jewell (37 points) and Maryville (28 points).
    Indianapolis is once again the favorite to win the East Division as the Greyhounds return six letterwinners off of last year's squad that went to the Final Four.
    The 'Hounds picked up 11 first place votes and received 115 total points. Lewis University was picked to finish second garnering 108 points and four first place votes. Wisconsin-Parkside received 85 votes to come in third while Southern Indiana received the final first place vote and had 83 points. Picked to finish behind the Screaming Eagles were Bellarmine (61 points), McKendree (58 points), Saint Joseph's (30 points) and Illinois Springfield (29 points).
    S&T opens its 2013 season on Friday, September 6 against the University of West Florida in Pensacola, Fla., at 2 p.m. The Miners open conference action on Saturday, September 21 against Indianapolis at 5 p.m. The GLVC Tournament will be held November 22-24 by the number one overall seed.
