  • Shadrach Donald Birdsong Rowden, age 12, of Meta, went to be in the arms of Jesus on Thursday, August 8, 2013, near St. Thomas due to a motor vehicle accident.  
    He was born in Jefferson City on October 2, 2000, son of Michael Rowden and Nancy (Honse) Rowden.  
    Shadrach was a sweet spirited boy who brought great joy to all that knew him.  
    He possessed a fun-loving sense of humor with a unique ability to create laughter wherever he went.  He attended Maries R-I in Vienna where he played basketball. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.  
    Shadrach was a member of Fernwood Assembly of God.  
    Those left to mourn his passing include his father, Michael Rowden and wife Holly Rowden of the home; his mother, Nancy Rowden of Jefferson City; eight siblings, Dylan Cox of Rolla, Michaelee Rowden of Meta, Malcolm Rowden of Meta, Noah Rowden of Meta, Jordyn Rowden of Iberia, Lilly Flaugher of Iberia, Bradley Glowczewski of Fredericktown, and Britney Glowczewski of Fredericktown; four aunts, Sandy Schoene, Debbie Clark, Susie Rowden, and Andrea Holtmeyer; five uncles, Doug Honse, Eugene Rowden, Mark Rowden, John Chipman, and Ryan Ash; and grandparents, Barbara and Dennis Chipman.
    Shadrach was also cherished by numerous cousins and friends.  
    He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfathers, Melvin Rowden and Gary Birdsong; maternal grandparents, Donald and Mildred Honse, and his uncle, Greg Honse.  His beloved grandmother, Wanda Rowden Coons, perished in the accident with Shadrach.
    Visitation will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., with a memorial service immediately following at 11 a.m., on Saturday, August 17, at Visitation Catholic Church in Vienna.  Fr. Matthew Flatley will officiate.  
    A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Melvin Rowden Family Cemetery near Meta.  
    Arrangements are under the direction of Fancher-Rekus Funeral Home in Iberia.
