  • Lawrence Peter Brune, of Rolla, passed away Thursday, August 8, 2013 at the age of 96.
    He was born in Brinktown, MO on March 8, 1917 to the late Frank and Dorothy (Schoenauer) Brune.
    On April 17, 1944 he married Christine Schepers and they were blessed with seven children and 57 years of marriage. Mrs. Brune passed away on July 14, 2001.
    Mr. Brune was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during WWII. After his military service he began a career as an Instrument Mechanic with the U.S. Geological Survey. He was also a well-known clock maker and clock/watch repairman and an avid fisherman. He was an active member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church since 1950 and a member of the 4th degree of the Knights of Columbus.
    In addition to his parents and wife, Mr. Brune was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.
    He will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes his seven children, James Brune and wife Dorothy, of Tebbetts, MO, Charles Brune and wife Becki, of Cerritos, CA, Judith Rhodes, of Aurora, CO, Patricia Kalbac and husband Raymond, of St. Louis, MO, Linda Brune, also of St. Louis, Mary Kludjian and husband Diran, of Las Vegas, NV, and Nancy Jensen, of St. Cloud, FL; 14 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other extended family members and dear friends.
    A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, August 12, 2013 at the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Rolla. Interment with full military honors will follow in Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-7 p.m. Sunday, August 11th at the Null & Son Funeral Home in Rolla with a Rosary service at 5:30 p.m.
    Memorial contributions are suggested to the St. Patrick Catholic Church Building Fund.
