James Fred Arl, Sr. of Rolla, passed away, Sunday August 4, 2013 at the age of 87.
He was born on July 31, 1926 in Corridon, Mo to the late Lewis and Ola (Patterson) Arl.
In July of 1952 he married Anna S. M. (Ichihara) Arl who preceded him in death on February 6, 2007.
James was a veteran of the US Coast Guard, retiring in 1970 with twenty-two years of service.
James enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending many hours working in his garden.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was also preceded in death by three sisters; Grace Johnson, Ruth Gray and Martha Baker and by one brother; Ralph Arl.
James will be greatly missed by his surviving family which includes: one son, James F. Arl, Jr. and wife MaLinda of Rolla, MO; one daughter, Doris Arl of St. James, MO; One sister, Edith Callahan of Ellington, MO; one brother, Walter Hale Arl and wife Freda of Corridon, MO; three grandchildren, Joshua James Arl and wife Melissa of Lebanon, MO, Jacob Lewis Arl and fiancée Candace White of Rolla, MO, and Jessica Lee Smith and husband Bret of Springfield, MO; three great grandchildren, Joshua Benjamin Arl, Elijah Timothy Arl, Kaleb James Arl, and soon to be born, great grandson (Smith); and many other extended family members and friends.
A funeral service for James F. Arl, Sr. will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the Null and Son Funeral Home of Rolla. Pastor Danny Kemp will officiate. Interment with Military Honors will follow at 2:30 p.m. at the Polk Cemetery near Corridon, MO which is in Reynolds County.
A visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, August 9, 2013 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
