  • Gas tax revenue in July tops June deposit

  • While it was previously reported that gas tax revenue received by Phelps County through its County Aid Road Trust (CART) fund distributions in June was the highest it had been so far in 2013, the receipts from July are even higher.
    According to a financial report prepared by County Treasurer Carol Green and given to Phelps County Commissioners July 30, the county received a total of $53,988.53 in gas tax funds last month. However, that is down compared to the amount received in July 2012, which was $54,694.30, a negative difference of 1.29 percent.
    In June, the county received $51,853.36 in gas tax funds, a 1.21 percent increase over the amount received in June 2012, which was $51,235.55.
    In addition to the gas tax, the county also receives its share of funds from motor vehicle sales tax revenue and revenue received from motor vehicle fees. Distributions from all three tax funds are administrated by the state.
    The county’s share of motor vehicle sales tax revenue in July 2013 was $8,991.85, a 18.93 percent decrease from the county’s share received in July 2012, which totaled $11,091.29.
    June receipts from the motor vehicle sales tax for Phelps County totaled $13,686.93, a 24.37 percent jump from the county’s share received in June 2012, which totaled $11,004.66.
    In July 2013, the county received a total of $4,729.56 in motor vehicle fees revenue, a 26.84 percent decrease from the amount received from these fees in June 2012. Then, the county’s share was $7,488.07.
    In June 2013, the county got $10,323.13 in revenue from motor vehicle fees, a 19.88 percent increase from the amount received from these fees in June 2012. Then, the county’s share was $8,611.10.
