  • Rolla man dies after head-on collision

  • A 22-year-old Rolla man has died after suffering injuries in a head-on collision on South U.S. Highway 63 Sunday morning.

  • A 22-year-old Rolla man has died after suffering injuries in a head-on collision on South U.S. Highway 63 Sunday morning.
    According to the Rolla Police Department, the man identified as Jeremy Wayne Belcher was driving a 1996 Ford F-250 southbound in the 1100 block of Highway 63 South when his vehicle crossed into the northbound lane and struck a 2003 Freightliner tractor-trailer that was traveling northbound on the highway in a passing lane.
    Belcher was transported to Phelps County Regional Medical Center and later flown to Mercy Medical Center in St. Louis where he succumbed to his injuries. Belcher’s next of kin have been notified.
    Mac Alson Cooper, 54, of Cabool, the driver of the tractor-trailer, owned by Western Dairy Transport of Cabool, reported no injuries at the scene, according to the police department.
    Both vehicles sustained heavy damage were both towed from the scene.
    Police were dispatched to the crash scene around 7:04 a.m. Aug. 4.
    Assisting the Rolla Police Department were the City of Rolla Fire and Rescue, Phelps County Ambulance District, Missouri State Highway Patrol and the Phelps County coroner’s office.
    An investigation into this fatality accident is ongoing by the RPD.
