William F. Whites, of Rolla. passed away in his sleep at his home on Saturday, 27 of July, 2013.
He was born on July 2, 1923 in Rolla, to the late Clyde W. Whites and Rose (Ehrlacher) Whites. He married Eileen (Pendleton) Whites who preceded him in death on September 8, 2003.
Bill was a cartographer with the U. S. Geological Survey from which he retired in 1977. Bill served in the Army during WW II, He landed at the Beachhead of Normandy in 1944.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bill was preceded in death by an infant brother, Robert Whites and brother Clyde Whites.
Bill will be sadly missed by his surviving family which includes his daughter, Shirley W. Prentiss and husband Major General Ret. Louis Prentiss of Anthem, Arizona, two grandchildren, Terri M. Childress and husband Curtis of Plano, Texas and James M. Martin and wife Jana of Anthem, Arizona, three great grandchildren, Dr. Ashley Sbanotto, Curtis J. Childress, Lauren Childress, and two great- great grandchildren, Michael and Mathew.
A funeral service for Bill Whites will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, August 1, 2013 at the Null and Son Funeral Home in Rolla. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Ozark Hills Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Rolla. A visitation for family and friends will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 31st at the funeral home.
