St. James High alumni players compete in Show-Me State Games.

Over the weekend alumni members of the St. James High School girls' basketball team got together to compete in the age 19-over division of the Show-Me State Games in Columbia.

Most of the players from the Lady Tiger squad have been out of the game for several years. However, the squad was still placed in the competitive division, playing teams made up of current collegiate players.

The St. James squad finished 0-4 but made a strong showing nonetheless as all the games were close, with the Lady Tigers losing one game in overtime and one game on last-second free throws.
Competing for St. James were Amy (King) Luna, Bri (Butery) Hodge, Natalie (Edwards) Hayes, Alison Edwards, Kelli (Busby) Saerber, Kim (Woodruff) Morton, Jennifer Bowen, Becca (Redburn) Renaud, Kristen (Marshall) Lorts, Kasey (Marshall) Rinehart and Debbie (Light) Stephens.

Coming back to coach the squad were former Lady Tiger coaches Billy Crabtree and Dave Busby. Crabtree was Lady Tiger head coach from 1988-98, posting a 228-49 record while winning eight Four Rivers Conference championships, four district championships and advancing to the Missouri Class 3 Final Four in 1994-95.

Former all-staters for St. James who competed were (Butery) Hodge, (Woodruff) Morton, (King) Luna and Bowen.

Luna said there are plans for the group to get back together next year for the Show-Me State Games. "And this time we will try to practice before we go!" she added.
