Concierge, a team from Mexico, Mo., held on to stop Rolla's Extreme Accessories in the title game to capture the 2013 Amateur Softball Association (ASA) Missouri Class C Coed State Tournament, which was held Saturday at the Ber Juan Park Sportsplex.
Concierge finished 4-1 to win the five-team, double-elimination tournament.
Concierge ended up playing Extreme Accessories three times.
In the first round Saturday morning it was Concierge which put Extreme Accessories into the losers bracket.
The Rolla squad then lost to The Bad Guys of Mexico in its second game before reeling off three straight victories.
Extreme Accessories defeated Jones Law Firm of California, Mo. in the finals of the losers bracket to advance to the title round, where it clipped Concierge 12-11 to force a final, 'if' game.
And in the championship contest Concierge outscored Extreme Accessories 22-16 to take the title.
The 16-team Missouri Class D Coed State Tournament was also held at Ber Juan Park Saturday and Sunday. In that tourney it was an all-Springfield championship game Sunday afternoon, with Guys N Gals of Springfield defeating Fusion of Springfield in the finals.
There were three Rolla teams entered in the Class D Tournament – Spoon Me/Benton Square, John's Firestone and Miller 64. John's Firestone was the only squad of that trio to make it to Sunday's round.
Qualifiers from both the Class C and Class D state tournaments will advance to their respective divisions in the ASA National Tournament. And Rolla will host the ASA Coed Class C, Class D and Open National Tournaments Aug. 24-26 at Ber Juan Park. They will be the only national coed events the ASA will hold in 2013.
