  • A Rolla man who was driving along Interstate 44 in Pulaski County suffered an unknown medical condition, pulled over and was taken to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead late Tuesday night.
The incident was reported on the Missouri State Highway Patrol’s website, but Sgt. Dan Crain, public information with MSHP Troop I, said the incident is not considered a crash.
The incident report stated that Joseph M. Cotillo, 52, of Rolla, was driving a 2000 Nissan Maxima eastbound on I-44 at mile marker 161 in St. Robert when he suffered a medical condition around 10:40 p.m. Crain did not say what the medical condition was.
According to Crain, Cotillo pulled over to the shoulder and stopped the vehicle. The Nissan did not strike anything and there was no damage to the vehicle.
EMS responded to the scene, Crain said, and Cotillo was transported by the Pulaski County Ambulance District to General Leonard Wood Army Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 11:32 p.m.
