At approximately 6:45 a.m., Monday, July 15, the St. Robert Police Department responded to a 911 call at the Alpine Haus Motel on Old Route 66 in St. Robert.
Upon arrival, officers located a deceased white female victim in one of the motel rooms. The victim, who had been fatally shot, was later identified as Laila D. Carpenter, 33, St. Robert.
The investigation is ongoing by the Troop I unit of the Patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control, the St. Robert and Rolla Police Departments along with the Pulaski and Phelps County Sheriff's Department.
A woman was found dead in a St. Robert area motel Monday morning. The Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) is investigating the incident, which occurred at Alpine Haus Motel and Apartments located along Old Route 66, near Interstate 44 in the city.
MSHP Troop I Public Information Officer Sgt. Dan Crain said a woman was found fatally shot in the building but that her identity remains unknown and that no suspects have been named.
The St. Robert Police Department and Pulaski County Sheriff's officers are working closely with the MSHP in an ongoing investigation.
A representative of Alpine Haus Motel and Apartments declined to comment in the incident.
There is no specific suspect at this time, according to Crain. "It's an ongoing investigation," he added.
