Lady Miner standout with USA Athletes International.
Missouri S&T volleyball standout Krista Haslag will be traveling to Costa Rica with USA Athletes International to take part in an international competition July 21-28.
Haslag, from Linn, Mo. who attended Jefferson City Helias High School, was named to the team as a reward for being named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American third team this past year.
She will be joined on the team by other Division II and Division III All-Americans as well as a Division I player from Georgetown University.
The team will play four matches, do community service, conduct clinics with local players and tour the country.
Haslag said initially she was going to pass up the opportunity but reconsidered after talking with her mother.
"She told me what a great opportunity this was and I needed to take advantage of that. So I did," she said. "I had no idea this came with being an All-American and I'm excited for the opportunity to get play with players that are at a higher level than I am. I can't wait."
S&T volleyball coach Jason Holt added that this says a lot about who she is as a player and is a reward for efforts.
"She came out of nowhere her freshman year and has set a tone for the rest of the conference," he said. "This is a testament of how hard she has worked throughout her entire career and why she's able to do the things she does."
