  • Video surveillance and the sharp eyes of a burglary victim led to the arrest of a Newburg woman who allegedly stole items from the victim.
Heather L. Shaw was arrested Wednesday morning in connection for burglary in the second degree in connection with an incident that took place June 30 in the 800 block of Walnut Street in
    Newburg.
She was incarcerated in the Phelps County Jail, pending an arrest warrant being issued.
Phelps County sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to Walnut Street the night of June 30.
During an on-scene investigation, it was discovered that an assortment of household items and antiques had been taken without the owner’s permission.
When the on-scene investigation was complete, the burglary victim provided deputies with video surveillance that showed the suspect vehicle and a license plate.
While the vehicle could not be located during an initial search of the area, on Wednesday, the victim located the suspect vehicle in the 500 block of Eisenhower Street in Doolittle.
Deputies made contact with residents at this location and information was developed regarding the driver of the suspect vehicle.
Deputies then responded to the 100 block of Second Street in Newburg and made contact with a female later identified as Shaw, and observed some of the reported stolen property in plain view.
Phelps County Sheriff Rick Lisenbe said this was a cooperative effort between the victim and the Phelps County Sheriff’s Department.
