Defeated Sedalia in championship match.

The Rolla High School varsity volleyball team captured the championship of the June 27-28 session of the Licking Shootout Team Camp, held at Rolla High, Rolla Junior High and The Centre.

In pool play Rolla defeated Green Ridge 25-17, 25-17, beat St. Clair Red 25-21, 25-23, split with Blair Oaks 24-26, 25-13, split with Sedalia Smith-Cotton 25-16, 23-25, beat Forsyth 25-10, 25-16 and beat Eminence 25-17, 25-15.

In the bracket semifinals Rolla topped Blair Oaks 25-22, 23-25, 15-6 and in the championship match Rolla topped Smith-Cotton 25-13, 25-22.

"We had a really great tournament," said RHS head coach Julie Carver. "The kids have really been working hard all summer and it is starting to show. We still need to continue to get better but we are making great progress.

"The girls really played as a team and played very aggressive all weekend. It was a nice way to end with a championship."

Rolla had two other squads in the Shootout, and both the Rolla junior varsity and freshman teams made it to the championship match of their respective backets, both earning second place.
