The Mayor and City Council on Monday night officially accepted the resignation of St. James Police Chief Jim Anderson.
Anderson, who has been employed with the department for several years, resigned on Friday for "personal reasons," according to City Administrator Jeff Davis.
As of now, Lt. Ron Jones will serve as interim chief until a replacement is found.
The council met in a closed session Monday night to discuss the details of Anderson's resignation before making it public.
Anderson also served as the school resource officer before taking the role of police chief.
Anderson could not be reached for comment at the time of this report.
