Bulldogs drop home doubleheader to Waynesville Thursday.
The Rolla Bulldog 17-Under baseball team ended its summer season by beating swept by the Waynesville Warriors Thursday on FCNB Field at the Bray Sports Complex.
The Warriors jumped out to a 6-0 lead after the first inning and then held off Rolla 13-12 in the first half. Waynesville won the nightcap 8-2.
Rolla was scheduled to play at Camdenton on Friday, but that game was canceled due to wet field conditions. Friday's cancelation ends the Bulldog season with a 10-7 record.
On Thursday Waynesville had two big innings in Game 1, plating six runs in the first and five more in the fourth.
Rolla went into the bottom of the seventh inning down 13-6. However, the Bulldogs erupted for six runs in the final frame before the rally fell one run short.
Righthander Mason Pickrell was the starting and losing pitcher for Rolla.
In the nightcap the Warriors defeated Rolla 8-3. Right-hander Collin Nash was the losing Bulldog hurler.
The Warriors, riding a seven-game winning streak, improves to 14-10.
