It's been a solid summer of improvement for the Rolla Bulldogs 17-Under summer baseball squad.
The team, which figures to make up a large core of the Rolla High School's 2014 varsity baseball squad, have gotten in 15 games while dodging the raindrops during a wet month of June.
The Bulldogs are 10-5 after sweeping a doubleheader on the road at St. Clair on Tuesday 9-0 and 9-1, with Brad Lohr and Brett Hoffman gaining the victories on the mound.
Over the weekend Rolla finished 1-2 in the St. Louis Mid-Summer Jam, sponsored by Vianney High School and held at O'Fallon. In the St. Louis event the Bulldogs defeated Kirksville and lost to O'Fallon and Jefferson City Helias.
Rolla's final home games are scheduled for today, when the Bulldogs are slated to host the Waynesville Warriors in a doubleheader starting at 6 p.m. on the First Community National Bank Field at the Bray Sports Complex. Waynesville entered Wednesday's game against Plato 10-10 and riding a three-game winning streak.
Rolla is scheduled to end its season on Friday at Camdenton.
"We've had a good summer," said coach Karl Odenwald, who also is the Rolla High baseball head coach. "Jake Stephens has really improved a lot for us this summer. And Brett Hoffman, who is an incoming sophomore, has established himself as a good hitter. And our other players have been consistent."
