  • Cyndra Lorey, executive director of the Rolla Regional Economic Commission (RREC), has been named by the Missouri Economic Development Council (MEDC) as the 2013 Professional Economic Developer of the Year.
This prestigious award is presented to a MEDC member who has made significant contributions in the field of community-based economic development. Lorey was recognized at the MEDC annual conference June 12 at the Lake of the Ozarks.
“Cyndra’s successful efforts leading Rolla Regional Economic Commission since 2010 were outlined by both her city administrator and mayor and clearly indicate that she has been able to develop a renewed focus on job retention and creation with the RREC as the hub of activity with many accomplishments,” said Ryan Mooney, CEcD, MEDC president and senior vice president of economic development with the Springfield Area Chamber of Commerce.
“They attribute much of the success directly to Cyndra Lorey’s leadership and relationship building with the city and key partners,” Mooney said. “This award is very special to MEDC and Cyndra’s many successes and achievements make her a worthy recipient.”
“I am truly honored to receive this award from my peers in economic development around the state,” Lorey said. “Just being nominated by Mayor William S. Jenks, III and Rolla City Administrator John Butz and then supported by my board is a an honor in itself.”
The Professional Economic Developer of the Year award winner is selected by the counselors of MEDC, which is a group of professionals who have achieved great success in their economic development careers.
MEDC is a statewide, not-for-profit association of economic development professionals and community leaders.
Created in 1979 to provide a unified voice for economic development, MEDC offers its members programs in professional education, legislation and marketing. For more information, visit www.showme.org.
