Saturday, June 22

Brewer Science, Peaceful Bend Vineyard and Arts! Rolla will present a wine cellar concert, an evening of chamber music featuring violinist Burkhard Maiss, cellist Bogdan Jianu and violist Hannah Strijbos of the Jacques Thibaud Trio.  The concert will be held  Saturday, June 22, from 6:30-10 p.m. in the wine cellar of the Peaceful Bend Vineyard located at 1942 Highway T, Steelville. The fifth annual Big Piney River cleanup is Saturday, June 22.  Registration starts at 8 a.m. at the Boiling Springs MDC Access southwest of Licking. A barbecue lunch starts at 3 p.m. at the Boiling Springs MDC Access. Overnight camping is available for participants. The University of Missouri Extension and Edward Jones Investments will offer a Medicare boot camp Saturday, June 22, from 9-11 a.m. in the multi-purpose room of the Phelps County Courthouse, 200 N. The James Memorial Public Library will hold an open house Saturday, June 22, from 1-4 p.m. on the library lawn. There will be music, games, prizes, library card sign-up,  a blow-up-bouncy house, ice cream, drinks, and a history booth.

Lyric Live Theater in Newburg will present a new play “Mrs. Bellamy” Saturday, June 22, and Friday and Saturday, June 28-29. The play is written and directed by local playwright Wayne Horine. Doors open at 7 p.m. and show time is at 7:30 p.m. Admission is $6.

Sunday, June 23

Vacation Bible School will be held at First Baptist Church of Newburg Sunday, June 23, to Thursday, June 27, from 6-9 p.m. Children age 3 through grade six are admitted free. Family night will be Friday, June 28, at 7 p.m.

The Vichy Volunteer Fire Department will host its annual, all-you-care-to-eat fried chicken dinner Sunday, June 23, at the firehouse/community hall at 14812 Highway 63 in Vichy.  Baked chicken will also be available. Serving  will begin at 11 a.m. and run until 5 p.m. Carry-outs will be available. Adult dinners will be $7.50 while dinners for children 12 and under will be $4. Side dishes of mashed potatoes and gravy, a variety of side dishes along with  homemade desserts, bread and drinks are included with the dinners. All profits will go toward the upgrade of department equipment.
